London 2012: 72 days to go!
One important week in France!
With 50 athletes qualified for London, INSEP is completely focused on Olympics. And this week was really important for M. Thierry MAUDET, General Director, with the opening after works, on Monday, May 14th of the new complex Marie-Thérèse EYQUEM. The French team of judo will prepare the Games in this renewed building and began their training, just few days after the announcement of the 14 qualified athletes. This complex is now an important tatami (1236 m2) with musculation, offices for coaches and a balneotherapy room.
In the afternoon of this Monday, the CNOSF (National Olympic Committee) annouced that Laura FLESSEL (fencing), Olympic champion, will carry the flag during the opening ceremony. The committee of selection finally preferred Laura to the place of Tony PARKER (basket-ball) and she will be the 3rd woman to have this honor after Christine CARON (1968) and Marie-José Perec (1996). The INSEP is really proud because Tony was discovered and trained here for 3 years and Laura trains for it 995!
The last current event of the week, after the election of the new President of the Republic, Mr François HOLLANDE, is the announcement of the new Minister of Sports: Mrs Valérie FOURNEYRON.
